Eric Smith has been professionally dedicated to the electrical industry for almost 33 years. He began his career as the warehouse manager for a young and rapidly growing electrical contractor in the mid 80’s. Seeing that advancing in the industry meant learning all its aspects, Eric was accepted into the electrician apprentice program and then established himself as an exceptional electrician with talents that reached far beyond working the field. With a solid 10 years of “doing it all” in the field, Eric was drawn into numerous administrative and management roles where he excelled in job estimating, safety management, project management and client relations. Success in these roles led to Eric’s promotion to Vice President and eventually a partnership in one of the largest full service electrical contracting firms in the Midwest. With 27 years of progressive growth with the same firm, Eric got an “itch” to take his core beliefs of hard work, sticking to the basics and building strong relationships with both clients and employees and applying them to his own business. Eric was strongly supported in his vision by his family and with his son Zach and brother Michael, he formed what we know today as Edge Electrical Systems. Eric’s role as President and Chief Electrician placed him in an ideal position to build professional relationships, to oversee all projects and to select and train new team members assuring his clients that they will always receive cutting edge service results.
Dan Elia brings more than 20 years of security and systems integration experience to the table. He started as an apprentice in the alarm industry and continued to grow his career in the sector, earning titles as lead install tech, lead service tech, project manager, and Operations Director. Dan believes in treating every customer like you treat your mother. Customers are always number 1! Dan strives to always work by a motto of integrity, loyalty, and efficiency, while continually developing and maintaining great relationships with clients.
Dan also understands the importance of continuing to adapt to ever changing technologies and systems. He and his team are committed to providing customers with the latest technology options.
Mike Smith has 24 solid years in the electrical industry, both in operations and administration. He joins Edge Electrical Systems to lead the Low Voltage Department. Mike began in the industry in 1994 as an apprentice specializing in voice and data communications and has advanced his skills to the expert level for Voice/Data and Fire Systems. His progression in the industry has been exemplary as he advanced to Foreman, then Field Superintendent and eventually to Vice President of the Technology Division of a major electrical contracting firm. Mike’s wealth of experience also includes time spent as a sales executive for a leading manufacturer of equipment related to fire and security. As a proven and devoted professional, we welcome Mike as a key member of the Edge team.
Zach Smith has grown up in the electrical industry, following in his father’s footsteps and now has +14 years of varied experience. Zach currently holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration & Project Management from DeVry University. He began his career as a lighting maintenance technician serving a private university and since that time has held several different positions with a leading electrical contractor, building a resume which qualifies him as an accomplished electrical project manager. Zach worked the back end in warehousing and inventory management and progressively advanced through positions as a Project Assistant, Estimator and Project Coordinator. He has demonstrated advanced skills in operations and excels when overseeing client project commitments. Zach is totally committed to client satisfaction and takes full responsibility for a project from the presentation of submittal to actual close out. Zach joined Edge Electrical Systems as a highly qualified project manager dedicated to total client satisfaction and manages the estimating department.
Rebecca started working with Edge Electrical Systems in 2013 when she took the position of Administrative Assistant. She is a “charter team member”, joining us at our inception. Fast forward 5 years and Rebecca is now the Edge Office Manager and oversees multiple administrative disciplines. Rebecca is responsible for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll, along with numerous other tasks. Her dedication to her responsibilities and to the team concept has helped, in a very short time, catapult Edge Electrical Systems into a premier Merit Shop Electrical Contractor.
